Hot Spring Information
Gentle, mildly acidic bathwater
Our hot spring bath is a blend of two different types of hot spring water.
One is the iron-rich, reddish-brown hot spring in Jigokudani (Hell Valley).
The other is rich in minerals, including sulfur —
a free-flowing spring with a source temperature of 98°C.
Blended together, the two waters feel remarkably soft on the skin,
and are mildly acidic — gentle even on sensitive skin.
After your bath your skin feels smooth,
and you may even feel as though
it has been renewed.
The proof: Kao, one of Japan’s leading cosmetics companies,
has chosen our hot spring as one that is gentle on the skin.
The indoor bath uses a combination of circulating and free-flowing water.
The open-air bath uses only free-flowing hot spring water.
Each bath is 100% natural hot spring water, without any added water or heating.
(Except when the hot spring source is being cleaned, etc.)
The indoor bath, with its calming atmosphere created by the warm light of indirect lighting, is deeper than average, allowing for standing bathing.
The stones laid at the bottom stimulate pressure points on the soles of your feet, enhancing your body's natural healing abilities.
You can relax and forget about time while soaking in the bathtub for a long time.
The open-air bath, where you can enjoy the changing seasons, offers a sense of freedom and the high-quality, free-flowing hot spring water envelops your body in comfort.
The men's and women's baths each have a different atmosphere, so please enjoy the different vibes throughout the seasons.
On clear days, you can see the five peaks of Northern Shinshu and even the Northern Alps from the open-air bath.
You can enjoy the garden scenery, which changes with the seasons.
